Compliance with health norms and standards has a direct impact on all mankind and on every single person. Thus, knowledge of and compliance with the rules in the field of medicine and pharmaceutical activity as components of the health system, is a world-class desideratum. The need to study IPL, is conditioned by the influence of a number of factors: a). intensification of cooperation with pharmaceutical enterprises/systems from abroad; b). training students from the country, as well as going abroad to graduates of the faculty and their employment in various types of pharmaceutical activity; c). promoting through the State Medicines Policy the principle of „collaboration with WHO, other bodies and other countries”; d). the need to harmonise national pharmaceutical legislation with the rules contained in international pharmaceutical legislation. The mission of the IPL – ensuring the obtaining of knowledge, which would allow the future specialist – pharmacist the possibility to be included in any type of pharmaceutical activity that provides for the interpretation and application of international legal norms in the field of medicine and pharmaceutical activity. At the end of the study of the IPL graduate will be able to: be familiar to interpret the rules contained in the IPL; to ensure the organization of the activity of any pharmaceutical company in accordance with the provisions of the IPL; to possess knowledge that ensures the possibility of involvement in the process of harmonization of the national pharmaceutical legislation with international requirements. 

Respectarea normelor și standardelor din domeniul sănătăţii are un impact direct asupra întregii omeniri și a fiecărui om în parte. Astfel, cunoașterea și respectarea normelor din domeniul medicamentului și activităţii farmaceutice ca părţi componente ale sistemului sănătăţii, reprezintă un deziderat de nivel mondial. Necesitatea studierii LFI, este condiţionată de influienţa unui șir de factori: a). intensificarea colaborării cu întreprinderi/sisteme farmaceutice de peste hotare; b). instruirea studenţilor din stăinătate, precum și plecarea peste hotare a absolveţilor facultăţii și încadrarea lor în diverse tipuri de activitate farmaceutică; c). promovarea prin Politica de stat în domeniul medicamentului a principiului „colaborării cu OMS, alte organisme precum și cu alte ţări”; d). necesitatea armonizării legislaţiei farmaceutice naţionale cu normele cuprinse în legislaţia farmaceutică internaţională. Misiunea LFI – asigurarea obţinerii de cunoștinţe, care să-i permită viitorului specialist – farmacist posibilitatea de a fi încadrat în orice tip de activitate farmaceutică ce prevede interpretarea și aplicarea normelor juridice internaţionale din domeniul medicamentului și activităţii farmaceutice. La finele studierii LFI absoventul va fi capabil: să cunoască și să poată interpreta normele cuprinse în LFI; să asigurare organizarea activităţii oricărei întreprinderi farmaceutice în conformitate cu prevederile LFI; să posede cunoștinţe ce asigură posibilitatea implicării în procesul de armonizare a legislaţiei farmaceutice naţionale cu cerinţele internaţionale.
